The Friends' School annually participate in National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) and have a long history of involving and entertaining students and staff across three campuses - primary, secondary and senior secondary grades get involved. If you are looking for some inspiration read on...
At Friends’ we participate as a whole
school in National Simultaneous Storytime.
It’s a great activity that can easily involve students of all ages, as
well as staff.
This year’s book is Alpacas with maracas, written and illustrated by Matt Cosgrove. It’s a fast paced, funny read that students
of all ages will enjoy.
Here are some ideas on how you could
participate:
-
Read it aloud – together, teacher-led, students reading, older students reading to younger students, etc.
- Read it in a foreign language – organise for your language teacher/s to provide a translation that can be used on the day
-
Act it out!
- Alpaca dress up instructions from the author, Matt Cosgrove
This year NSS will be held on Wednesday, 22
May at 11am.
You can register your school and have
access to banners, activities and teachers’ notes, as well as online versions
of the book.
There are also VIP readers
if you don’t want to read it aloud yourself.
More information can be found at www.alia.org.au/nss .
Schools and libraries that register get access to digital versions of the book to facilitate access and presenting to large audiences.
Further ideas from the Book Chook.
And for the very dextrous and crafty minded people, why not make a yarn alpaca?
